Easy

Explore Kyoto's historic Gion district with a local guide. Visit Pontocho, Gion Shirakawa, and Geisha district. Discover hidden corners and the beauties of townhouse and traditions of geisha culture.

Begin your evening walk at Sanjo Bridge, one of Kyoto's favorite spots for locals to relax along the Kamo River after sunset. Here, you'll also witness an interesting phenomenon that has yet to be fully explained.

Continue to Pontocho Alley, where beautifully preserved wooden townhouses and glowing lanterns create the timeless atmosphere of traditional Kyoto. Along the way, stop at a charming hidden corner that many visitors simply walk past without noticing.

Next, stroll through the picturesque Shirakawa area, a location frequently featured in television dramas and one of Kyoto's most iconic landscapes. In spring, the cherry blossoms transform the canal into a breathtaking scene, making it one of the city's most elegant places to experience the beauty of sakura.

Finish the walk on Hanamikoji Street, the heart of Kyoto's geisha district. Lined with traditional teahouses that have preserved centuries of culture, this historic street offers a glimpse into Kyoto's living heritage. If you're lucky, you may even spot a geiko or maiko on her way to an evening engagement.
